The Gate posts and timbers that go with a gate form an integral part of the overall look and as such are available in all the same timber types.

Posts
As standard these have a Stone Head which is a 4 way weather cut on the top to shed moisture and provide an attractive finish. Douglas Fir and Hardwood posts can also have round or Gothic tops. All planed posts can have chamfered grooves on request.
Post length usually needs to be 60cm to 90cm longer than the height of the gate to allow sufficient in the ground and if in doubt about the dimensions we would always opt for the larger.
Wall plates

Timber uprights usually fixed to walls or fences. Gates can be hung from or latched onto them.
Gate stops

For gates or doors to close onto thus protecting the latch, they also seal around the gate
Hold back posts

Used to hold gates in the open position using cabin hooks or magnets. They may not be necessary if drop bolts are fitted and can be used.
