If you are wanting to increase the
security level of your new gates you can choose to include Railheads. These are steel rails with decorative spiked finials such as a Fleur
De Lis or Spear Head styles to deter people from climbing over the gates. They
also work well with pigeons!
Most commonly sprayed black but can also be galvanised.
They can be fitted to any gate including curved designs. Here they are shown on
a pair of Sapele
Glemham gates.
Sapele, Iroko and seasoned European Oak are extremely durable hardwood timbers with excellent longevity. Seasoned Oak has good stability and character and is more consistent in colour than Iroko which can have variations in colour but has exceptional stability. Both Iroko and Oak timbers will naturally weather down over a period of time to a silver grey colour or can be oiled. Sapele can be oiled, stained or painted.
