Gates

Available in several styles, timber types and finishes all of which can be seen by browsing the picture menu below.

We supply and fit within a 50 mile radius of Woodbridge, Suffolk but if you are looking for supply only you may want to

Softwood Timbers
All softwood timbers are from sustainable sources and carry either PEFC or FSC certification

  • Scots Pine is a Scandinavian Redwood widely used. It does require ongoing treatment.
  • Larch is a higher grade and particularly dense timber from Siberia which is very durable and stable and as such is not treated and can be left to weather down naturally over time. Alternatively if you are looking to paint your gates Larch is the perfect timber due to its smooth surface and reduced number of knots.

Hardwood Timbers
There are several hardwood timbers to choose from, all come under the "Very Durable" timber classification and offer similar benefits in that they are extremely hard wearing and low maintenance.

  • Iroko is a West African timber, sometimes called "African Teak". It can be slightly inconsistent in colour due to species type but will weather evenly over time
  • European Oak a timeless timber which is very consistent in colour with distinctive graining.
  • Chestnut. UK sourced from sustainable coppice woods  this hard wearing timber isn't suitable for boarded gates but is ideal for rustic styles where the timber is "cleft" or " riven"
Hardwood timbers are from sustainable sources and most carry either PEFC or FSC certifications with the exception of Iroko. Even though Iroko is well managed from controlled sustainable forestry, not all supplies are currently certified.
Choosing the correct timber is an important part of buying you new gate.
